About Your Teacher
Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year at Willow Elementary!
I am the RtI Coordinator here at Willow. This is my sixth year in the Homewood School District and my third year at Willow in this role. I received my undergraduate degree from The College of Wooster in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with the plan of pursuing a Speech Pathology license. However, my senior year of college I took my first education class and at that point, I realized I had found my passion. It was then, I made the choice to continue on with a Masters degree in Special Education and Reading from Bowling Green State University.
After graduation, my husband and I moved to the Chicago area, where I started my first job as a reading specialist. I focused on reading interventions from grades K-8. I found myself falling in love with teaching reading and encouraging my students to find that same love. The growth I saw in my students year to year became a passion of mine and made my role incredibly rewarding.
Four years ago I made the choice to take on the role of RtI Coordinator at Willow Elementary. This meant that not only could I continue serving as a reading specialist, but I would also play a role in developing and fostering the reading and math interventions across the school.
As you are probably already aware, Willow Elementary is an incredibly special place, and I am honored to be part of the team!
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions and concerns!
Have a great year!
